Current Correspondence Course Information:

Shipping & Handling -

  1. Courses received via email in Adobe Reader format have no shipping cost.
  2. Courses mailed via the post office have the following cost based on quantity of courses purchased:
    1. 1 - 3 courses = $5 for shipping and handling
    2. 4 - 6 courses = $7             "
    3. 7 - 9 courses = $9             "
    4. 10 - 13 courses = $11        "

Course Descriptions -

  • A Look at Cultural Diversity & Inclusion:
    •  What is culture, diversity or inclusion.  Being sensitivity to the needs of families and ways to achieve diversity in your child care setting.   2 hrs Relationships 
  •  Arts & Crafts from A-Z   
    •  This is a fun look at arts and crafts and the role they play in child development.  Covered are the benefits of arts and crafts to children in care, sensory awareness and age appropriate ideas.  There is a list of art and craft projects for every letter of the alphabet.   2 hours Child Growth & Development
  • Making the Connection, Physical aspects of Infant Brain Development:
    • This study takes a look at infant brain development from the beginning.   3 hrs Child Growth & Development .
  • Ages and Stages Infant Brain Development, What Role do Caregivers Play:
    • This study takes a look at infant brain development and the roll that the caregiver plays in the development of the infants in their care.   3 hrs Child Growth & Development or Developmentally Appropriate Practice . 
  • Developing your own Theme-Based Curriculum:
    • Create from materials you already have for  children 2 years to pre-K ”   2 hrs  Developmentally Appropriate Practice.
  • Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: 
    • This 2.0 clock hour course covers what causes Fetal alcohol Syndrome, possible effects on a child, and what child care professionals can do to assist the child.  There are links to other resources online within the course. At the end you will be required to submit a 500 word essay about what you learned in the course and how you could put this knowledge into practice in working with children.  2 hours credit in Health and Safety.
  • Interviews, Policy Handbook, Contract & Forms:
    • This is a 3 hour course that provides you with a contract, policy handbook and forms that some inspectors are recommending to providers with inadequate materials.  Learn to use this document during the Interview, how to evaluate your home from the parents point of view, & changes you need to address  to attract clients.  The correspondence course includes computer disk in Microsoft WORD ‘98.   1 hr Developmentally Appropriate Practice 2 hrs Professionalism
  • Recognizing Child Abuse & Neglect
    • Ways to protect yourself & family from charges of abuse, how to recognize child abuse, the caregiver’s responsibility  to report suspected abuse.  2 hrs Health & Safety
  • Stress Management for Caregivers & Children:
    • Caring for you so you can care for others. Includes recognizing childhood stress & “Managing Stress, Workplace Training”, American Red Cross (used with permission). 2 hrs Health & Safety 
  • Child Behaviors Situations & Methods:
    • This class looks at child development, scenarios and suggested methods to use in these situations.  1 hr. Guidance 1 hr. Child Growth & Development 1 hr. Developmentally Appropriate Practice
  • Understanding Child Behaviors:
    • This class looks at child development, temperament, management techniques for children with difficult traits such as Tantrums, Biting, Physically Aggressive Children and How to Discipline with Love.  1 hr. Guidance 1 hr. Child Growth & Development 1 hr. Developmentally Appropriate Practice
  • Train Up A Child: This class offers several different approaches to helping children become comfortable with the potty.  It offers tips on how to recognize when a child is ready to begin the process.  Special needs and potty learning are included.  The is a section on Shoe tying with songs, poems and finger plays.  Detailed pictures are included of the very best ever bow.  2 hours Developmentally Appropriate Practice.
  •  "Play" Is it the Best Early Childhood Curriculum
    • Early Childhood professionals have studied the effect of play as a curriculum for many years and have published results that will make you take a second look at all the seat work that many curriculums are based on.  2 hr. in Developmentally Appropriate Practice or Child Growth & Development.
  •  Sign Language for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers  - A look at the History and research behind Sign Language Pages of the most important words for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in written and sign form.  2 hours in Developmentally Appropriate Practice or Child Growth & Development.
